GRC racing commenced on Saturday with Shaun Finlayson in the Mens Senior A single scull. This was a tough race for Shaun, who managed fourth behind Pat Bird of North Esk.
Our Junior B Men's quad, stroked by Matt Carr, continued to improve. Although coming seventh, you could easily have thrown a blanket over the competition.
This regatta also saw the return of Sandra Harvey, winner of numerous women's Australian rowing titles. After returning from travel, Sandra showed her class in securing third less than 3 seconds behind Dana Faletic of Huon.
In division 2 of the Men's Senior B single, Shaun again drew tough competition. In the Men's Senior A coxless four, a composite combination of Ben and Shaun along with Sam Hay and Troy Morrisby of Buckingham Rowing Club managed a fifth place with only 40 minutes in the boat together. Once again, a blanket could have been thrown over the field with only 8 seconds separating 2nd and 5th.
Later in the day, the Mens Junior A single was contested into extreme headwind conditions to wrap up the days racing. Rowing in Division 1, Shaun placed third with Ben trailing into fifth. In Division 3, Jonathon battled into sixth place. Results:
